Individuals who currently hold the provisional Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 188) and meet the eligibility criteria for the permanent Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 888) may apply for this visa. The individual must have satisfied the requirements of the stream they applied under for the provisional visa. If granted, the subclass 888 visa will allow the individual to continue business ownership and management under the Business Innovation stream, or continue business and/or investment activity under the Investor and Significant Investor streams. This visa provides permanent residency in Australia for the individual and their eligible family members.
The Innovation and Investment subclass 888 visa is a permanent residence visa. It enables the visa holder to carry on their business or investment activities in Australia.

To be eligible for permanent residence under the Investor stream, applicants must have resided in Australia and held their provisional visa for a minimum of two years in the four years immediately prior to applying. In addition to this, both the applicant and their partner are required to have held a designated investment in any Australian state or territory for a minimum of four years.
Applicants for the permanent Innovation and Investment visa (subclass 888) under the Significant Investor stream
For the Significant Investor stream, you must have been in Australia for 160 days in the past four years.
For the Significant Investor Extension stream, you must have been in Australia for 240 days in the past six years for the first extension, and for 320 days in the past eight years for the second extension.
In addition to these requirements, you and/or your partner must have continuously held complying investments for a minimum of four years while on the provisional subclass 188 visa and operated a qualifying business under the private Australian company in which you have made a direct complying investment, if applicable.
You must meet the character requirements to apply for the Business Talent visa. This involves producing police clearance certificates in each of the countries where you have lived for longer than 12 months in the last 10 years.
To be eligible for this visa, you need to meet specific health requirements. However, not everyone is required to go through a health examination. The Department of Home Affairs will inform you if you need to undergo a health examination as part of the application process.
