The Contributory Aged Parent (Permanent) visa is the final step in a 2-step process for obtaining permanent residency in Australia.
To be eligible for this visa, the applicant must hold a Contributory Aged Parent visa (subclass 884) or meet the eligibility criteria.
Due to a capping system, there may be a waiting period for this visa as there are limited places available. The length of the waiting period is unspecified.
If you have children who are eligible to sponsor you and you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be able to apply for the Contributory Aged Parent visa. Your eligibility will be reassessed when you apply for this visa, so it is important to continue meeting the criteria.
A Contributory Aged Parent (Migrant) visa allows the applicant, their partner, and dependent family members to live permanently in Australia. With this visa, the applicant is permitted to work or study in Australia, apply for healthcare through Medicare, and sponsor eligible family members for permanent residency in Australia.

If you have not already undergone a health examination, you may be required to do so as part of the visa application process. However, if you have previously undergone a health examination for an Australian visa application, it is possible that you will not need to do another one. The requirement for a health examination will depend on individual circumstances, such as age and country of origin.
All men aged over 65 years can apply for a Contributory Aged Parent visa (subclass 864).
