This visa is designed for parents who wish to join their children in Australia and do not currently hold a visa to Australia. It is a temporary visa and the applicant(s) must apply for the permanent Contributory Aged Parent visa (subclass 864) within two years from the time the visa is granted. The Contributory Aged Parent visa is similar to the Aged Parent visa, but with a significantly faster processing time. This visa is ideal for those who do not wish to be added to the lengthy waiting list for Aged Parent visas.
To be considered for an Aged Parent visa, the applicant must meet certain requirements, including passing the balance of family test and meeting health and character standards. However, it is important to note that there is currently a significant waiting period for this visa, and eligible candidates may need to wait for several years before being granted a visa.

If you have not already undergone a health examination, you may be required to do so as part of the visa application process. However, if you have previously undergone a health examination for an Australian visa application, it is possible that you will not need to do another one. The requirement for a health examination will depend on individual circumstances, such as age and country of origin.
If the visa is approved, all family members who join the visa holder(s) must comply with Australian laws. As the sponsor, you will be responsible for providing moral support, adequate accommodation, and financial support to your family members for the first two years. The two-year sponsorship period begins from the date of entry to Australia if the application was lodged outside Australia, or from the date the visa was granted if the application was lodged in Australia.
