462 – Work and Holiday visa

The Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa is a temporary visa for young people aged between 18 and 30 who want to holiday and work in Australia for up to 12 months. This visa allows you to supplement the cost of your holiday through periods of temporary or casual employment.

To be eligible for the Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462), you must meet certain criteria, including having a valid passport from a participating country and meeting health and character requirements. Additionally, you must have sufficient funds to support yourself at the beginning of your stay in Australia and hold a return ticket or funds for a return ticket.

One of the main requirements of this visa is that you must engage in specified work while in Australia. This includes areas such as plant and animal cultivation, fishing and pearling, and tree farming and felling, as well as work in the mining and construction industries. The work must be the primary function of your employment and be performed during your stay in Australia.

If you are interested in applying for the Work and Holiday visa, you can do so through the Department of Home Affairs website or through a registered migration agent. Keep in mind that the application process can take several months, so it’s best to apply well in advance of your planned travel dates.
